Adult Patient Types

Patients with ≥2 risk factors for CHD

2018 ACC/AHA Guidelines define cardio-metabolic and disease-related risk-enhancing factors for ASCVD that favor statin therapy1

Major risk factors for CHD include2:

  • Hypertension
  • Family history of premature CHD
  • Age-related risk by gender
  • Low HDL-C
  • Cigarette smoking

Risk enhancers:

  • Family history of premature ASCVD
  • Persistent elevation in LDL-C 160-189 mg/dL (4.1-4.8 mmol/L) and non-HDL-C 190-219 mg/dL (4.9-5.6 mmol/L)
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Metabolic syndrome
  • Conditions specific to women
  • Inflammatory diseases (especially rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, HIV)
  • Ethnicity (eg, South Asian ancestry)

LIVALO—unlike Zocor® (simvastatin)—has no restrictions, contraindications, or dose limitations when used with certain CCBs used to treat hypertension*3-5

  • In adult patients with 2 or more risk factors for CHD, LIVALO 4 mg demonstrated LDL-C reductions comparable to Zocor® (simvastatin) 40 mg3,6

Study Design

Study 304: 12-week, randomized, multicenter, double-blind, double-dummy, active-controlled, non-inferiority, Phase 3 study of pitavastatin vs simvastatin in 351 adult patients with primary hyperlipidemia or mixed dyslipidemia and 2 or more risk factors for CHD.

Zocor is a registered trademark of Merck & Co., Inc.

ASCVD=atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. CCB=calcium channel blocker.

*Antihypertensive CCBs such as amlodipine and diltiazem.
